How to use the GPA raise calculator
- Enter your current cumulative GPA and the credits it covers.
- Enter the GPA you want to reach — for a scholarship, honors or a college application.
- Enter the credits you still have to take, or pick one semester, one year or two years.
The sheet shows the average GPA you need on those credits and how many credits it would take with straight A’s. The what-if table shows your new GPA for other results, so you can set a realistic goal.
The formula
Needed GPA = (target × (credits so far + credits to come) − current GPA × credits so far) ÷ credits to come. If the answer is above 4.0 the target can’t be reached in that time; if it is 0 or less you will stay above the target whatever happens.
